Escape room "Segvārds Vientulis"
The Preiļi Municipality Tourism Development and Information Centre, together with the Latgale Tourism Association and the rural tourism association "Lauku ceļotājs", has expanded the Baltic-scale project "Military Heritage Tourism" (militaryheritagetourism.info)—dedicated to military sites and stories in Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia—with another site: an escape room game about the National Partisans in Latgale and the priest and National Partisan leader Antons Juhņevičs.
The escape game is also included in the program "Latvian School Bag" (Latvijas skolas soma). Youth from all over Latvia are invited to experience history in an exciting way. The game creates an educational, emotionally engaging, and intellectually challenging experience for visitors. Its goal is both to provide a new experience in an attractive manner and to impart knowledge about the history of Latvia, with a special emphasis on Antons Juhņevičs's significant contribution to the national partisan movement in the Vanagi area, Latgale, and Latvia as a whole. Additionally, visitors have the opportunity to watch the docudrama film "Alias Loner" (Segvārds Vientulis, directed by Normunds Pucis) on the school premises. Scenes from the film were shot right in Vanagi—in the Vanagi parish hall, Vanagi Church, and the surrounding area.
