Upursala Nature Trail in Cirisa Lake
Being rich in legends, the Upursala (Eng: The Victims’ Island) offers a walking trail created by a state company “Latvian State Forests”. The sacrificial mountain in Upursala has been the site of an ancient central pagan cult since 1000 BCE. One of the stories says that girls and later livestock were sacrificed in Upursala. It is possible to get to Upursalu only by boat (it can be rented at the public beach of Aglona).
