Arendoles muiža

The house of the lords of the Arendole Manor was built in the historicism style and has been preserved since the time of its last reconstruction in 1901. At that time, the count Andrzej Plater Zyberk intended to build it as a hunting palace with an extension. In the manor house, you can now see the only authentic collection of Latgalian manor furniture and interior items, collected over many years. Here you can learn a lot about the history of Latgale, as well spend the night and enjoy authentic local food.

At Arendole Manor you can see the exhibit featuring a private collection and hear stories about key historical events in Latgale during the First World War (1915–1918), the liberation of Latgale from the Bolsheviks (1919 and 1920), the work of border guards and police from 1920 to 1940, the resistance movement and deportations in 1941, the World War II in Latgale (1941-1944) and the resistance to the second Soviet occupation (1944-1991). The exhibit also tells the story of retired policeman Joņis Babris, who resisted deportation and continued his fight.
