The “WW2 - World War II” exhibition in Aglona, located at the War Museum, was established in 2008. The collection has been continuously expanding, and those who visited the museum in its first year would now find a much larger and more extensive exhibition, including WW2-era weapons. Over the past four years, there has been significant research, along with interviews with people from that time period and war veterans. Since the exhibition's inception, visitors have ranged from history experts to those who are unfamiliar with the true nature of World War II. At the heart of the museum's collection are the weapons used in the conflict, as well as uniforms, ammunition, household items, and aircraft wreckage, etc. The most precious and unique feature of the museum is the collection of feldpost (war correspondence) letters exchanged between Oberleutnant August and his beloved Martha over the 5 years of the war. This touching exchange, a dialogue between two lovers, has a happy ending. In the background, visitors can see a chronicle of that era. The exhibition is not politicised, as it presents both warring sides equally, without designating one as good or bad—perhaps this neutrality makes it easier to engage with.
